ATREYU: New Album Title, Release Date Announced
June 18, 2007ATREYU has set "Lead Sails Paper Anchor" as the title of its new album, due on August 28 via Hollywood Records.
In a recent interview with Revolver magazine, ATREYU singer Alex Varkatzas stated about the upcoming CD, "I just want to use words like organic and mature, because that's what bands start to say after they've put out a couple of records. But I really do love records by CRADLE OF FILTH and ALKALINE TRIO, where there's all these layers in the music. We've tried to put more layers in our music in the past, but it's never really seemed to work out. With this record, we've finally had enough time to do it. Plus, we're more comfortable working with John [Feldmann, producer] than we've ever been with any producer. He gets a really good performance out of anyone."
ATREYU recently released the first song off its new album, but you are going to have to work to hear it. An online game was launched via the band's MySpace page which challenges fans to piece together the new song "Becoming the Bull". The idea of the game is to put 20 small clips of the song in the right order. Once completed, your time is entered in a competition to win a prize pack that includes an autographed guitar and a copy of the album before it hits stores.
ATREYU will hit the road on the Family Values Tour 2007. The band will be joined by KORN, EVANESCENCE, FLYLEAF, HELLYEAH, TRIVIUM and more.
ATREYU's "best of" collection, aptly titled "The Best Of...", was released on January 23 via Victory Records. The group recently parted ways with Victory and inked a new deal with the Hollywood label.
ATREYU's third album, "A Death-Grip On Yesterday", came out in March 2006. The CD follows up the group's 2002 release, "The Curse".
